Spindle and tension rod (tie-rod) after I have removed the dome and split nut.
DON'T DO THIS i.e., remove drum plates first. See log. Will need the drum plates to unfreeze the drum hub. It is impossible to wiggle out the front plate with the back plate still trapped by the hub.
This proves spindle will shift aft so drum is almost flush with mandrel.

How to wiggle the drum plates out of boom. With 90mm of spindle-bulkhead clearance. Split nut is fitted on spindle in case spindle gets stuck inside mandrel.
Furling drum detent damage
Aft end tension rod assembly - have wound off 27mm nut about far as I dare holding onto the 12mm.
